Introducing TDC’s newest member: Margherita Moroso
Italian Roots to London Lights: A Journey in Arts, Culture, and PR. Hailing from northern Italy, Margherita’s passion for arts and storytelling led her to the UK. Margherita will share her PR journey and spill the secrets behind her creative inspiration.
Tell us a bit about yourself!
Born and raised in northern Italy, I’ve always been interested in arts and culture. From film to the theatre, to art and design, I love immersing myself in different people’s lives and their stories. In 2014, I moved to the UK to pursue a BA in Communication and Media at Bournemouth University, and after a year in Milan interning at a PR agency, I fell even deeper in love with storytelling. After completing university I decided to move to London to pursue a career in PR, and living in such a big and busy city has led to many theatre nights, vintage markets, concerts and walks down the riverbank.
What is your Favourite cultural spot in London?
I have so many, but if I were to choose one, it would probably be the V&A Museum in South Kensington. I love going to their exhibitions, especially their fashion ones, but I also enjoy the fact that I can go there spontaneously and just walk around exploring it for hours while having a chat with a friend.
What’s a recent/past project you’re proud of?
This summer I worked on a project with Passoã, the passion fruit liqueur from Brazil. The brand was an official drinks partner at Secret Cinema’s Grease: Live the Experience. On the opening week, we invited content creators from across the UK to come to Birmingham to try out Passoã’s cocktail bar serving passion fruit Martinis, Spritz and Mojitos. It was such a fun night, stepping back in time to 1959 and singing and dancing along to the iconic songs from the beloved classic movie.
What’s the most surprising/interesting thing about your job/industry right now?
I think the most surprising part of my job is that the best creative ideas come from people’s lives outside of the office. We consume media every day, whether it’s from newspapers, TV or social media; coming together to have a chat about weekend activities can lead to some great ideas for new projects.
Any advice for someone who wants to work in PR?
Be as passionate about your clients as you are of your personal interests. I find that keeping myself well read on competitors, trends and news within my client’s industries makes me more creative and able to jump on new ideas faster.
