Milan Design Week 2025: 10 Must-See Events That Will Define the Design Conversation

Discover the top 10 must-see exhibitions and installations at Milan Design Week 2025. From immersive brand showcases to cutting-edge pop-ups, explore the events that will shape the future of design.

Milan Design Week 2025 is nearly upon us and with it comes a whirlwind of grand spectacles and must-see exhibitions and installations. From immersive showcases by global design giants to guerilla pop-ups from a breadth of designers, here are 10 events you’d be wise not to miss:

1. OOO Run Club

Ditch the showroom crowds and skip the late-night parties—OOO Run Club is an alternative to typical Milan Design Week networking, giving creatives the chance to have meaningful conversations, whilst taking in the sights of Milan (think Parco Sempione via the Duomo). Developed by ourselves and Morrama, in partnership with Saucony, OOO is just the ticket for those looking to step outside their routine and into new ideas. 

The 5k event will be led by Crusher Running Club, OOO (short for ‘Out of Office’) and is open to all fitness levels – come join us for a run, jog or saunter!

2. SCP 40

SCP, a renowned name in modern British design and manufacturing, celebrates four decades of pioneering design with a showcase of furniture and upholstery at 44 Spazio, George Sowden’s Milan showroom. Highlights include a fresh take on the Boxed Collection, an idea originally conceived in 2009, which invites up and coming and established designers to develop smaller pieces “that can fit in a box that you can carry out of the store”.

Designers include Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby, Pierre Charpin, Oscar Coakley, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Alexandra Gerber, Matthew Hilton, Philippe Malouin, Michael Marriott, Andu Masebo, Jasper Morrison, Elliot Payne, Julie Richoz, George Sowden, Ted Synnott, Jonah Takagi, and Donna Wilson.

When: Preview evening: 6 April 4pm – 7pm, 7 – 13 April 10am – 7pm

3. Samuel Ross and The Balvenie

Renowned designer Samuel Ross and his atelier SR_A  partners with whisky maker, The Balvenie to present TRANSPOSITION – an immersive sculptural installation blending industrial craft and natural elements to explore the future of hospitality. Set in the atmospheric Old Foundry in Isola, the experience reinterprets whisky distillation through copper sculptures, mist, light, and sound. Guests can enjoy The Balvenie, served from a sculptural copper bar created for the event, as they walk around, making each visit a personal sensory journey. 

When: Tuesday 8 April (11am – 5pm CET), Wednesday 9 to Friday 11 April (11am – 8pm CET)

4. Prada Frames

Curated by design and research studio, Formafantasma and conceptualised by Alice Rawthorne, Prada Frames returns to Milan Design Week with In Transit, a thought-provoking symposium on infrastructure, mobility, and design’s role in shaping movement. Hosted in two iconic locations—the historic Padiglione Reale and the restored 1950s Arlecchino train (originally designed by Gio Ponti and Giulio Minoletti)—the event explores global logistics, digital networks, and the contradictions of hypermobility. Expect deep discussions at the intersection of design, culture, and society, all within an immersive, architecturally rich setting.

5. cc-tapis

How does technology shape craftsmanship? Rug maker, cc-tapis’ WAYS OF SEEING exhibition explores this question to reveal the hidden intersections of digital innovation and artisanal tradition in today’s visually saturated world. Curated by Giga Design Studio, the show features 11 visionary artists and designers—including India Mahdavi, Patricia Urquiola, and Bethan Laura Wood.

6. MUJI MUJI 5∙5

MUJI and Studio 5∙5 present MUJI MUJI 5∙5 — an immersive installation found in a secret garden in the buzzing Brera district. At its heart is the Manifesto House, an example of a modular, sustainable micro-architecture inspired by Japanese design. Alongside this,the brand will feature a MUJI MUJI Collection comprising 12 repurposed objects from Muji’s current collection in stores which redefine these everyday essentials through upcycling – inviting visitors to rethink consumption, embrace durability, and find creativity in reuse.

7. Lexus

Lexus’ presence at Milan Design Week is always a much anticipated event. This year, the brand presents A-Un, an immersive showcase exploring the future of intuitive mobility. An interactive installation by SIX Inc. and STUDEO, inspired by seamless human-machine communication, and Discover Together, a co-creation initiative featuring emerging global talents. Experience cutting-edge design and innovation at Superstudio Più, where Lexus redefines the relationship between humans, technology, and movement.

8. Kvadrat

Kvadrat presents an immersive installation by artist Kapwani Kiwanga featuring Diade, the brand’s revolutionary upholstery textile made from ocean-bound plastic. Also on view: a sneak peek of Kvadrat’s collaboration with Peter Savile, Technicolour.  

When: Tuesday – Wednesday, 10 am – 8 pm , Thursday, 10 am – 6 pm, Friday, 10 am – 8 pm, Saturday, 10 am – 6 pm, Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm

9. Nilufar

Nilufar unveils Repertorio, a scenographic five-act exhibition curated by Nina Yashar. Blurring the lines between past and future, craft and art. The showcase spans two locations – Nilufar Depot and the gallery’s Via della Spiga location. Of particular interest is the George Nakashima exhibition, exploring ‘the spirituality of wood’.

10. Apartamento Bookshop

A week-long pop-up by Apartamento magazine with special guest and founding member of the Memphis Group, artist Peter Shire. As part of the event, Apartamento will launch a book with Peter featuring Memphis designs and archival material.
